Kankakee Valley - Kankakee Valley had a fantastic sectional meet last year thanks to some impressive freshmen and juniors, but this season they will have to step up their game. They lost three seniors that racked in some major points for Kougars last season. SWIMMERS TO WATCH OUT FOR: Madeline Klauer, a Senior, is one of the top returning swimmers for the KV team. Klauer was a third place finisher in the consolation final of the 100 breaststroke and fifth in the consolation final of the 50 freestyle. She also swam the breaststroke leg of KV's fifth place 200 medley relay. Katie Sanders, a Senior, swam the butterfly leg on KV's 200 medley relay and also had some individual success when she finished sixth in the consolation final of the 100 butterfly. Leah Gouwens, a Junior, is a big name that will be returning. Gouwens will help the team in the breaststroke event where she placed fourth in the consolation final just behind teammate Klauer. KV has a chance to make huge waves this season with three swimmers returning who all swam in the consolation final of this event. UP AND COMERS: Allison Schultheis, a Sophomore, had a very impressive swim when she swam her way to third place in the consolation final of the 100 backstroke as a freshman. She also swam the backstroke leg on KV's medley relay and was the third leg of their 400 freestyle relay that placed fourth overall. Brittany Kent, a Sophomore, was a catch for KV season. Her speed was a great addition to the roster, especially now that three seniors are gone. Not only was Kent the second leg of the 400 freestyle but she was also the third leg of the 200 free relay. She also placed sixth in the consolation final of the 50 free. |
